Some of my photos didn't appear on the map
SnapperMapper can only draw a photo it knows the location of. A photo is skipped when:
- It has no location. Photos taken with Location Services off for the Camera, screenshots, saved images, and most photos received in messages carry no coordinates. The import result screen counts these separately so you can see how many there were.
- It falls outside the date range you chose — or outside it once its true local timezone is resolved.
- You hid it, in review or in the Snap Library. Hidden snaps can be restored at any time from the Snap Library.
- It was already imported. Overlapping imports never duplicate a photo.
- Limited Access is on and the photo isn't among the ones you selected. Settings shows how to grant Full Access if you'd prefer.
A date or time looks wrong
Photos are filed by the local day where they were taken, not by your phone's current timezone — so a photo taken at 11pm in Tokyo belongs to the Tokyo day even if you're home in Europe when you import it.
Working out that timezone needs a network connection. Until it completes, the app marks affected dates as estimates and says so on the day header. Open the app on Wi-Fi for a while and it will finish and re-file anything that moved.
Place names are missing or say "offline"
Place names are looked up live and are deliberately never cached — see the privacy policy for why. Without a connection, places fall back to generic labels. They return as soon as you're online.
What do Keep, Favorite, and Hide actually do?
- Keep — the normal choice. The snap stays on the map.
- Favorite — a highlight. Favorites can be filtered on the timeline, exported on their own, and synced to a Photos album.
- Hide — for duplicates and photos unrelated to the day. It removes the snap from the map only inside SnapperMapper.
None of the three ever edits or deletes the original photo. Every decision is reversible from the Snap Library, for as long as you keep the trip.
The route looks wrong, or has gaps
The route is reconstructed from where your photos were taken, so it is only ever as detailed as your photography. Stretches you didn't photograph are drawn as brass dots rather than guessed at — the app will not invent a path it has no evidence for.
GPS drift is smoothed automatically. If a single wildly wrong coordinate is distorting a day, hiding that one snap usually fixes it.
Album sync
Syncing a trip album creates or updates a Photos album so that it contains exactly your current picks — adding what's missing and removing what no longer qualifies. It changes album membership only and never deletes a photo from your library. It needs Full Photos Access; under Limited Access every other feature still works.

Deleting your data
All SnapperMapper data lives on your device. Deleting a trip removes it and its days; deleting the app removes everything. Neither touches your Photos library.
